Ordem dos Psicólogos

Course Associated with Professional Internships

Final balance of the course for those who received a Recognition of Professional Experience

In total, since its launch in December 2010, the Training Course Associated with Professional Internships allowed 2317 trainees to have their entry process as a permanent member of the Order finalised.

The Training Course Associated with Professional Internships was launched in December 2010, and is part of the professional experience recognition system which is included in the OPP Regulations. To reach this number, 154 courses were organised and took place in Lisbon, Porto, Coimbra, Braga, Guimarães, Bragança, Covilhã, Leiria, Caldas da Rainha, Aveiro, Santa Maria da Feira, Viseu, Albufeira, Loulé, Faro, Beja, Évora, Almada, Funchal, Ponta Delgada and Angra do Heroísmo.

In these 154 courses, 2317 trainees passed the course, thereby concluding the process to become a permanent member of the OPP. The feedback from the trainees who attended the courses has been very positive. The average classification attributed by the trainees was good (4.0), and each module received classifications from between 7.2 and 8.9. Also, the work undertaken by the trainees in the more practical modules was very useful, generating ideas which helped the OPP in its mission to assert psychologists.

The professional experience recognition system allowed the recognition of the experience of those who had professional experience prior to the publication of the regulation of internships of the Ordem dos Psicólogos Portugueses (OPP). The system was available until the end of December 2011, allowing OPP members to obtain recognition within a maximum of 12 months. During 2 years, the Ordem dos Psicólogos Portugueses (OPP) continued to strive for the alteration to article 84 of Law 57/2008 which was done in July of this year thereby allowing approximately 200 internship members to become permanent members. Therefore, the recognition system for professional experience allowed the resolution of 11 times more situations than the alteration to the Law.

From September, courses will be available for internship members who are carrying out the respective OPP professional internship. These courses (which are distinguished by their duration, content and evaluation system) are offered with the designation EST.
