
The President, Telmo Mourinho Baptista, was in Oliveira de Azeméis, on the 6th of July to participate in the I Congress of Emotional Intelligence and Education - Investigate and Intervene to Change.
The Congress took place on the 6th and 7th of July at Escola Básica Comendador Ângelo Azevedo, São Roque, and covered issues such as Emotional Intelligence in Organisations, in Education, in Therapeutic Contexts, in Leadership in Schools, in School Socialisation, in Health, in Emotional Education in the Media.
The President spoke at the conference about "The soft skills in the professions of the XXI century". He highlighted the importance of the development of several social competences, such as communication, group work, leadership or creativity as part of the preparation for the professions of the XXI century.
He also gave particular importance to the role that psychologists may have in the promotion of the development of these competences, both within schools and through other means. At the event, Telmo Baptista stated: "these skills can be developed, they are learnt, they are important for the future of people and psychologists are particularly prepared to work with people in these areas."
