On the 25th of June, the President participated in the Opening Session of the 11th International Conference of Social Representations which took place in Évora, a joint initiative with the III Portuguese-Brazilian Symposium on Health, Education and Social Representation.
This event, with a high number of national and foreign participants, had Professor Correia Jesuíno as the President of the conference, a fundamental figure in Portuguese Psychology and an Honorary Member of the Ordem dos Psicólogos (OPP).
In his intervention, the President mentioned the importance of the work of psychologists in social representations and how this work is more and more necessary, allowing for a deep analysis of the topics such as the impact of the crisis and globalisation, and the analysis of crisis speeches provided by the media. He also spoke of the importance of the connection between the academic world and the professional world which he believes is the basis for the constitution of the Order itself, hence the association of the Ordem dos Psicólogos (OPP) with these types of scientific events.
The Conference is also a tribute to the contribution of Professor Serge Moscovici to Psychology, who will be honoured this Wednesday, with the attribution by the Universidade de Évora of the Honoris Causa doctorate. Thanks to the invitation from the Universidade de Évora, the President will be present at the doctorate ceremony.
