
On the 14th of June, the Board of the OPP was received by the Deputy Secretary of State of the Minister of Health, Dr Leal da Costa.
This meeting, requested by the OPP, allowed the discussion of various situations which worry Psychologists and which are also important to citizens in general. One of the topics covered related to the psycho-social risks and the role of Psychologists in this area. The professional internships were also discussed. The President, Telmo Mourinho Baptista, the Vice-President Samuel Antunes and Francisco Rodrigues, member of the Board, highlighted the need to review the financing tool for professional interns, namely through the IEFP and the new programme presented now – Impulso Jovem. The OPP demonstrated its concern at the coverage of services provided to citizens and the need for proximity solutions, giving greater use of the professional resources of the psychologists.
The OPP and the Government are also in agreement regarding the scientific autonomy of Psychologists, with this issue being covered with the revision of the list of acts practised by health professionals.
