A group of Psychology graduates, who did not fulfill the conditions to be registered as full members of the OPP, requested an injunction at the Tribunal Administrativo de Círculo de Lisboa to order the Ordem to provisionally register the same psychologists.
The defense of the graduates in question was based on an alleged unconstitutionality of the Statute and its application by the Order, and argued that they could legitimately register with the Order as full members.
The decision by the court, which was deemed final and unappealable, completely refutes the claims by the Psychology graduates in question and confirms that pursuant to Article 84 of the Statute, the applicants cannot be registered as full members.
The OPP continues to endeavour to be granted approval of the alteration it proposed in May, which shall allow many of the situations pending in the Order to be resolved.
