The President attended the 3rd Interdisciplinary Congress on Pain, and sat on a panel with representatives from the Ordem dos Médicos (Order of Doctors) and Ordem dos Enfermeiros (Order of Nurses) discussing "Training in Pain: Commitments to the Future". The panel was moderated by the President of APED - Associação Portuguesa para o Estudo da Dor, Dr. José Romão.
Telmo Baptista discussed undergraduate and postgraduate training in pain and the need to provide more visibility to this type of training in curricula, given that this area is not given due importance.
He further highlighted the Order's role in raising awareness and promoting training in this particular area, and the role it may have in the future in recognising various types of postgraduate training.
The 3rd Interdisciplinary Congress on Pain continues today and tomorrow in Lisbon.
