The Ordem dos Psicólogos Portugueses (OPP) has requested an urgent meeting with the Minister of Health with a view to clarifying several matters, namely the situation of the termination of the contracts of 23 psychologists employed by Hospital de Júlio de Matos (HJM), on the 31st July.

Given the urgency of the matter, the Order has strongly insisted on making the Ministry of Health aware of the interests of the general public, which from the beginning of next month shall no longer have access to the services provided by the HJM and there being no guarantee when or if at all, the professionals shall be available to that effect.

In response to the pressure it has been under by the OPP and despite not having been contacted to date by the Ministry of Health to schedule the meeting requested, on the day after our request for clarification, the Health Minister informed us that she is seeking a legal solution within the Ministry, for the psychologists in question.
