The President of the Ordem dos Psicólogos (OPP) was present at the symposium on “The Art of Aging Well - Different Perspectives on Active Aging”, which took place at the Biblioteca Museu República e Resistência, promoted by the Centro de Formação e Investigação em Psicologia (Centre for Training and Research in Psychology) (CEFIPSI).

Telmo Baptista highlighted the role of psychologists in the work with active aging in the various areas, such as personal, group, family and community.

He also spoke of the importance of psychology professionals in contributing to the demystification of some beliefs about aging, thereby promoting a more positive and more active vision in the aging process, and a greater participation of people of age in the collective life of society.

The President also announced a set of measures which relate to training and the certification of courses which are being developed by the Order, and also an awareness campaign for the different roles of psychologists in society.
