Upon invitation from EFPSA (European Federation of Psychology Student's Association's) the OPP was present, represented by the member of the Board José Lucas, at the opening session of the VI European Summer School which took place from the 15th to the 22nd of July, in Vila Nova Foz Coa.
This event is attended by approximately 60 participants from 26 European countries, including students, supervisors, guests and organisations. This year, the Summer School theme is "The Biased Brain - Research and Decision Making ".
The Order believes that this type of event is very important as students are the future of the profession.
"Psychology needs to be more visible and to stand its ground in society. In an environment like the one we are in at the moment, where Europe is experiencing a serious crisis, psychologists may be able to make a strong contribution to help society face the serious challenges it is presented with, whether individually, group or organisational", said José Lucas
Psychological knowledge through its most varied areas can contribute to benefit European citizens. The students of today, the psychologists of tomorrow, will also have an enormous challenge to influence the political decision makers of the advantages of psychological intervention.
