Psychology consultations will be reimbursed and will be included in health insurance packages. For this purpose, the Ordem dos Psicólogos Portugueses (OPP) established a protocol with the Insurance company AXA, a company which already has a long tradition of working with Professional Orders.

Citizens will soon be able to benefit from psychology consultations, in packages of 12, 18 or more sessions, according to their needs. In addition, the client does not depend on another health professional to prescribe the consultation. They can go directly to a psychologist who is duly registered with the Order and book a consultation.

It is a fundamental step forward for the practice of Psychology since, until now, consultations were completely excluded from insurance packages. At a time when the country is living a situation of financial crisis and instability, citizens will be able to benefit from a larger coverage and better conditions to access Psychology consultations.
