The document on the cost-effectiveness of psychological intervention in health was widely publicised on national television, radio and newspapers.
Last Monday, World Day of Mental Health, the Ordem dos Psicólogos Portugueses (OPP) published a report on the cost-effectiveness of psychological intervention in health. The document, which is based on national and international studies, clearly shows that the integration of more psychologists in hospitals and health centres could bring great benefits to health and to the economy of the country.
The report was delivered to the Minister of Health, Paulo Macedo and widely publicised in the Media. National television channels, radio and newspapers echoed the conclusions of the document which, among other aspects, highlights the importance of the psychologists in the prevention of a predictable increase in the occurrence of mental disturbance, with the worsening of the crisis and the austerity measures which are expected for the next few years.
Telmo Mourinho Baptista, President of the Ordem dos Psicólogos (OPP) was invited to appear on national television to voice the results of the report and explain, in detail, the benefits of the intervention of psychologists during a crisis.
